KLR650 Tool Tube

KLR650 Tool Tube

Tool tubes are usually used to store tools that you might need if you find yourself stranded roadside or in the middle of nowhere. i made my tool tube from 50cm x 3inch PVC that i had left over from some plumbing that I did around the house. This is a very enjoyable mod and gives a certain degree of piece of mind while you are riding in the middle of nowhere.

Items needed:

4 hose clamps
1x pvc endcap
1x pvc threaded endcap
1x screw on endcap
plastic primer
rust-oleum spray on camo paint (or whatever is your fancy)
pvc glue
pvc tubing
Items
Plastic Primer

The tube can be made of different lengths and sises and it all depends on what you want to but in there and how much space you will need. Just be check that the front wheel will not touch it when turning or when the front suspension is fully compressed and you should be good to go.

Because this is pvc and because you want your product to last through some rough terrain and because paint does not bond to pvc very well, I would suggest that you give at least 3 layers of primer and 4 layers of paint.
Follow the directions on the can to the T and allow for proper drying and bonding time before applying the next coat.

And while your at it, why not camo some other parts so that the tube looks like it belongs?

Finished Tooltube
Place some scrap pieces of rubber inbetween the hose clamps and the tube to prevent scratching of your sexy camo paint.

Rear break fluid reservoir

Front sprocket cover & main relay cover

Remember to check that screw on cap every now and then to make sure that it is not loosening up. Two hose clamps should me enough but I used 4 just for the sake of redundancy.

Done with camo
