KLR650 Aftermarket horn install

Tired of the road runner beep beep sound of your stock horn? Ever tried warning a cager that he is about to act stupid and the sound of your horn is laughable? Well there are a few threads out there on replacing your stock horn with an electric air horn, but i opted for a double low and high pitch replacement horn. Basically you can shop around and fit almost any horn to your bike as long as you keep in mind that space is limited. The diagram for fitting an aftermarket horn is basically the same as the one for fitting aux lights. You can not hook up the new horn or horns to the stock wiring for the stock horn as these wires are very thin and cannot carry the required current for a proper horn. Instead these two wires must be used to power the relay which in turn switches a heavy gauge wire with an inline fuse to provide sufficient current to the more beefier horn\horns. Remember to keep your wiring neat and tidy and use blue Threadlocker on all your bolts. Disconnect the positive terminal from your battery before beginning the install.

These are the horns that I installed high\low tone, and their placement.

Remember to solder all your connections and use shrink tubing where possible. Also make very sure that you can turn your handlebars all the way left and right without any possibility of interference from the new horns. For the Horn on the right I used the original mounting hole of the original horn and on the left I used the bolt for the allen key that secures the nose to the front fairing, just remember that you will need to use the mounting bolts as the negative terminal also and that you might need to sand away some of the paint under the bolt to achieve a decent ground connection. I snugged the relay out of site close to the original location of the horn and cable tied it snug to the frame.
